Dr. James Riley is a native Houstonian who joined Galveston's oldest dental practice in 1992. While serving the Galveston community for 16 years he applied a common sense dental philosophy that ensured quality, affordable care for his patients. His successes are based on developing patient confidence through practical treatment plans and, when appropriate, collaborating with carefully selected dental specialists. He brings his skill and experience to us as he relocates to San Antonio subsequent to Hurricane Ike striking Galveston.
He graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. During college, his summers were spent performing research in ocular microbiology at Baylor College of Medicine and in molecular biology at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. After graduation in 1984, Dr. Riley joined Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, where he experienced emergency medicine and care flight before going to University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston. He received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1991.
His personal interests include competitive sports such as sailing, windsurfing, archery and Tai Kwan Do. A first degree Black Belt, he competed in the National Black Belt League in the 1990s and, today, he enjoys teaching karate and self defense skills. Recently, he added a private pilot’s license to his accomplishments. He and his wife, Cindy, enjoy golf, Tai Kwan Do, scuba diving, underwater photography, and raising Texas Longhorns in the Hill Country.
